'born to be loved' is actually a hymn, quite a popular one amongst christians in korea apparently. and of course, it was and still is an ode to god.
but many, many moons ago, i've no idea how long, the song was already adopted as the BYJ's song when i became a fan in 2002. apparently, some korean fans had found the lyrics of the song befitting of how they felt about the man, how he really, really, really seemed to be someone who's born to be loved. so they started treating the song like his song.
later, when the man began mesmerizing and dazzling more women outside of korea, for instance, in taiwan, hong kong and singapore... fan clubs started sprouting and they too started to see this song as the song for the man. the chinese fans event went so far as to re-write the lyrics into chinese whilst keeping the meaning of the song 为爱而生...
there're quite many versions to this song... and sorry, i don't know who the original singer is. there's a very popular female version, there's also a male one, and a children's one, and then an instrumental one. and quite recently, korean pop singer lee soo young also included this song in one of her albums. i like the lee soo young version the best.
